How beneficial is our own fat to our hair and body?

    27/09/2022

Autologous fat grafting has become one of the most widely used methods in aesthetic plastic and reconstructive surgery for shaping soft tissues. The most critical step in the practice, which is based on the principle of treating people with their own cells, is the separation process of the fats before they are injected into the areas to be healed. Enrichment strategies are being studied so that the autologous fat transfer method, which has been discussed, researched and observed to work for years as a regenerative treatment option, can contribute positively to the treatment process. Experts are of the opinion that in order for lipolifting procedures to become safer and more effective, the variables that contribute to the survival of the fatty tissues to be used in the treatment should be understood very well. The autologous fat transfer method, which has become one of the biggest weapons of aesthetic surgery among the procedures applied within the scope of anti-aging, is considered as one of the most promising developments in recent years in eliminating hair loss and permanent hair loss problems. Regenerative treatments are applied by multiplying the blood cells, adipose tissues, stem cells and returning them to the person. In order to achieve the positive results of the applied treatment, the processing stages of cells and tissues are very important. Here are the powerful formulas of regenerative treatment approaches that have been developed and started to be applied for hair health in recent years:

    PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

PRP; It is one of the applications that is becoming more common day by day in the treatment of some orthopedic diseases, facial rejuvenation and scar healing procedures and hair loss treatments. PRP treatment is applied by inserting the blood cells taken into the centrifuge device, separating the platelets and injecting them into the areas desired to be healed. In the PRP method, after centrifugation, 5 times more platelets than normal can be obtained. Platelet-enriched plasma contains numerous growth factors and growth hormones. These growth factors provide the following advantages:

    • Reproduces endothelial cells
    • Provides vascularization
    • Proliferates fat cells

Platelet-rich plasma aids in wound healing, bone regeneration and proliferation of autologous fats. The results of experiments on both humans and animals show that the therapeutic effect of platelet enrichment is faster and more effective.

    Stem Cells Containing Fat Tissue

The use of mesenchymal stem cells obtained from adipose tissue in aesthetic plastic and reconstructive surgery has become widespread. Mesenchymal cell is defined as the adult stem cell type. In order for the adipose tissues enriched with stem cells to be permanent; they must not deteriorate, remain alive, and must not be damaged. At this stage, the separation process should be done very carefully. Enriched fat grafts have high adipose tissue and new connective tissue volume and contain very little dead tissue. The biggest advantage of the stem cell, which has the ability to reproduce, is that wherever it is injected, it can transform into the characteristic of that tissue. Mesenchymal stem cell repair power on damaged tissue; reproduction, renewability, differentiation features.

    Fat Tissue Engineering

Tissue engineering term; It means the preparation, processing and regeneration of tissues in the body under laboratory conditions. The stages of fat grafting, preparation and injection are very important. It is predicted that the concept of adipose tissue engineering will become even more important in the near future.

    Gene Therapy

Vascularization is one of the factors that play an important role in maintaining the vitality of autologous adipose tissues. As mentioned earlier, PRP contains numerous growth factors. One of them is the ability to reproduce the cells that provide vascularization. However, PRP is not the only factor promoting vascularization. This can also be achieved with gene therapy. Gene therapy is thought to be effective in curing hereditary diseases. Gene therapy, which means rearrangement of genetic functions, is a new subject that continues to be studied.
